Optimization of the system of measures to control and prevent health care-associated infections (HAIs) in the Russian Federation

Abstract

The article discusses the problems of ensuring the epidemiological safety of providing medical care in the Russian Federation, also the tasks that need to be solved to achieve these goals are described. Health care-associated infections (HAIs) have negative consequences for health and lives of patients, personnel of medical organizations and lead to an increase in medical expenses. In the Russian Federation, according to official statistics, every year about 25-30 thousand cases of HAIs are registered. Fast development and active use of new technologies of diagnosis and treatment lead to the emergence of new risks, which require continuous improvement of methods of HAIs prevention and treatment. The article presents a set of management decisions to improve the system of epidemiological surveillance and measures of prevention of HAIs in the Russian Federation, which can minimize the risk factors for the spread of HAIs and provide effective control over them.
